POETRY in NO TIME at ALL
I was born an orphan Left behind from the beginning Alone Quickly kind this couple Pleased to give me a home Took me into their arms Within years from my beginning This babe became personality Awoke raging curiosity Questioning means of search The parents tried to protect But up to the edge I went Reaching over the side in need A floating water toy I had seen The older kids playing with in glee Not me, they said I was a baby So I waited until they went away Eagerly stretching out for my turn to play When SPLASH Joyous shouts from afar Drowned out my terrorized cries Fear flooded in Down I went To the bottom of a dark, cold pool Alone From a balcony, someone did see Long after my fall Wailing out a need for help A young man came running to her call He leapt in death defying decent To save my life that day This dark-skinned man could not swim His sacrifice in action is my greatest lesson Exalted atop many I experienced That day my life flickered But stayed For reasons I did not understand Then But now will explain As the fear flooded down under Lost in death or somewhere between Life went into darkness I faded Something new took hold of me Purest silence calms No more alarm I was no longer Alone Silhouetted figures framed in light Soft hazed glow, not too bright A whole group of them, all differing sizes But head and shoulders above the rest The one in the middle seemed To focus the groups thought energy Through one idea communicated with all Individually understanding Instantaneous telepathic being Except for perspective Everything else Is one This was the opposite of alone All in one, but not the same I was myself and everything else All at once, simultaneously An eternal moment broken By a strange howling shrill So far away in distance Yet in an instance I knew The voice my mother threw Beyond the realms we exist And hearing her cry for my demise Gave purpose to my action I catapulted back Sat up and began To calm my mother's heart As a matter of fact I explained my task Returning for her, but ready to go Back deep out into that unknown Which is our home Where we are never Alone They showed me other ways Humans exist than the days Turned around clocking sun There is only that which Exists all in one No place or time Nor haste or rhyme All flows Energy They gave me peace of mind Calm joyous unbelievably kind Presence of self all together Melting into warm liquid Love beyond mention Without greed or hate Never lost or late All flows Energy The list goes on so long Subtle insights drawn An eternal moment spent Wading infinite Held attention Understanding unfolds Everyday I grow older But there was direct contact A questioned asked Innocently I answered Rhyme and reason did not matter In conversation my curiosity Searched them for knowledge And when the shrill of my mother Pierced into eternity I acknowledged my present dilemma Realizing my situation They asked what I was to do Wanting to stay in perfection Needing to alleviate strife For the kindest heart on earth Broke the drum eternal Warned the heavens not to harm The child thought dead before her I cleverly decided to return Quick to tell her No one is able to stop this fable Of existence that we are For now the need decreed To prevent complete release Sorrow be damned when I sat up To calm her doubts However clever I thought My intentions were not brought To fruition at that time Since I did not end up Back by their sides I could never have let My mother's heart break That day beside the pool But I wanted to spend Eternity then In one Where was not Alone In the hospital later I remembering feeling rejected Tricked to come back for a while Since, at four years of age A whole lifetime to stay Seemed an eternity in its own Yet everyday I understand How preciously short life is And to them I will be back in No Time at ALL ~ DBrown Fisher © Feb 1999
